The Diversity Law Institute of the Litigation Counsel of America held the 2012 Diversity Summit in Chicago, Illinois, on September 14. The Summit kicked off on Thursday evening with a reception in the offices of Segal McCambridge Singer & Mahoney, Ltd., with spectacular panoramas of the city from Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. The University of Chicago Gleacher Center was the venue for Friday’s round-table exchange of ideas, views, and concepts relative to diversity in the practice of law, law firm management, and society. Awards for support of diversity and the Diversity Law Institute were presented to selected law firms following the general session. A dinner among attendees was held at BOKA in the Lincoln Park community on Chicago’s North Side. John Kirchner, son of Summit speaker Phil Kirchner, who is a chef at BOKA, confirmed why the restaurant has received high awards, including the Michelin Star in 2011 and 2012.
The 2012 Diversity Summit accomplished its mission of fostering greater awareness of diversity issues facing the legal and corporate landscapes, and in the process of doing so also connected influential professionals and provided them with the opportunity to further diversity efforts through one another.
